Ian Froman: A Drumming Force in the Jazz World
Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Ian Froman is a dynamic and seasoned drummer who’s carved out a stellar career in the global jazz scene.
Moving to the U.S. to deepen his craft, Ian studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music (B.M., 1984), where he was handpicked to study with the legendary Elvin Jones at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida. He then honed his skills further under Miroslav Vitous at the New England Conservatory (M.M., 1986).
Now based in New York City, Ian’s groove has powered performances and recordings with some of jazz's biggest names, including Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Sheryl Bailey, Metalwood, Noah Preminger, and more. Whether in the city’s iconic clubs or on stages across North America, Europe, and Asia, Ian brings unmatched energy and precision to every gig.
