Ian Froman: A Drumming Force in the Jazz World
Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Ian Froman is a dynamic and seasoned drummer who’s carved out a stellar career in the global jazz scene.
Moving to the U.S. to deepen his craft, Ian studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music (B.M., 1984), where he was handpicked to study with the legendary Elvin Jones at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida. He then honed his skills further under Miroslav Vitous at the New England Conservatory (M.M., 1986).
Now based in New York City, Ian’s groove has powered performances and recordings with some of jazz's biggest names, including Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Sheryl Bailey, Metalwood, Noah Preminger, and more. Whether in the city’s iconic clubs or on stages across North America, Europe, and Asia, Ian brings unmatched energy and precision to every gig. His extensive touring includes concerts, festivals, and appearances on both TV and radio, proving his versatility and global appeal.
As an educator, Ian shares his wealth of knowledge as a faculty member at Berklee College of Music, Drummers Collective, New School University, and City College of New York, mentoring the next generation of jazz talent.

Tony Marino, Bass
Tony Marino's versatility and wide range of musicality have allowed him to accompany and record with numerous artists from jazz to folk, to pop. The bass is a part of Tony's being, and when playing, he and the bass are one. The instrument is his voice. As the premier bass player at clubs and resorts in the Pocono and the Catskill Mountains, Tony performed with many acclaimed entertainers. He also toured internationally with the Dave Liebman Band and played several times at SUNY Orange with Chris Parker. You can hear Tony's rich sound on numerous jazz recordings. Credits include Joe Lovano's "The Kaleidoscope Quintet" and Dave Liebman's Expansions.
Jon Ballantyne: Pianist, Composer, Educator
For over three decades, Jon Ballantyne has been a celebrated force in jazz, performing solo, trio, and big band concerts across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and beyond. Based in the New York area, Jon has released 12 albums, earning 2 Juno Awards and multiple nominations.
Influenced by jazz legends like Dave Holland, Kenny Wheeler, and Cecil Taylor, Jon studied at top institutions including McGill University and the Banff Center for the Arts. He's played alongside jazz greats such as Joe Henderson, Roy Haynes, Paul Bley, and Billy Hart.
Known for his virtuosic improvisations, reimagined jazz standards, and original compositions, Jon’s creativity and unique approach consistently captivate audiences.
