About the event
Bill Goodwin started his career at 17 with saxophonist Charles Lloyd. In the '60s, he collaborated with various artists including Mike Melvoin, Art Pepper, and George Shearing. Joining Gary Burton's ensemble in '69 took him to the East Coast. After three years, he settled in the Pocono Mountains, later co-founding the Phil Woods Quartet in '74, with whom he worked for 40 years, winning three Grammys.
He's performed with Bill Evans, Dexter Gordon, and Tom Waits. Goodwin has been a fixture at the W. C. Handy Music Festival and has taught at William Paterson University since 2000.
He leads a trio with Jon Ballantyne and Evan Gregor, playing regularly in New York. Their latest album, a follow-up to their acclaimed 2019 release, is due out in summer 2024. Goodwin is the son of Bill Goodwin, known for his roles in radio and TV.
